Can a Curt Front Hitch Replace a Draw Tite on a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Question:

I currently have the DrawTite 65046 installed on my 2008 Dodge 3500. I am thinking of switching to the Curt C31017 to pick up the additional ground clearance. Is the hole that I drilled in the frame for the DrawTite in the same location as would be required for the Curt or would I have to drill a new hole?

The hole dimensions between the two hitches are very similar but not exactly that same. The difference between where the holes would be drilled on either hitch will be different by .11 of an inch. I confirmed this with my contacts at both Curt and Draw Tite.

From the center of the vertical bracket hole back to the center of the horizontal hole on the Curt measures 5.64 inches and on the Draw Tite it measures 5.75 inches.

Basically it will work but you potentially will have to enlarge the hole slightly.
