The Flint Hill Goods 27x47 Ramped Cargo Carrier # FHG67ZR weighs 63-lbs; this is the lightest ramped-carrier we offer.
If you do not need a ramp on the carrier, then you do have other options that are lighter, and some of these carriers will fit both 2-inch and 1-1/4-inch hitches. For example, Curt 17x46 Cargo Carrier # C18145 weighs only 28-lbs and fits both hitch sizes.
You will want to note the capacity of your trailer hitch before you select a carrier. There should be a safety sticker on the hitch that indicates it's tongue weight (TW) rating. This weight rating must be enough for the combination of wheelchair and carrier you choose. For example, if the hitch sticker says it's TW rating is 200-lbs (which would be the case for a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch) then with a carrier that weighs 50-lbs you could carry a chair of up to 150-lbs. You can also check the car owner's manual for the vehicle's own TW rating. The lower of the two ratings applies.
You'll also want to take a measurement of your hitch to let you confirm your preferred carrier will fit well at the back of the car. Measure from the hitch pin hole to the rear-most part of the car, which may be the bumper. For example, the Curt # C18145 provides 6-inches of clearance from it's hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier. The linked article will help illustrate this measurement.
Please feel free to let me know your vehicle year/make/model/version, hitch size and TW rating and the size and weight of the chair and I will be glad to work with you to find the best solution for you.
