Using Class II Receiver Hitch Instead of Class III on 2011 Toyota Sienna to Gain Ground Clearance

Question:

Can you tell me what the clearance is on this hitch. I installed a 2 hitch and it is too low to the ground and would like to find a hitch with more clearance.

Although different hitches for a given model year of vehicle can vary a bit, the orientation of the receiver will usually be the same. When installed, the Curt Class II hitch part # 12212 will measure approximately 11 inches from the top of the receiver tube to the ground. Due to the smaller receiver, you will gain around 1/2 an inch more clearance versus the Class III. I attached installation instructions for you to check out also.

You might also consider the Roadmaster Roll Away Trailer Hitch Protector, part # RM-050. This roller would mount to your receiver and allow the receiver to roll along the pavement when pulling into driveways or driving over speed bumps.
