Recommended Fifth Wheel System For 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 For Full Bed Access When Not towing

Question:

I really like the BandW fifth wheel hitch and I want to have some sort of under rail system. I want to use my truck as a truck when the hitch is not installed. I know that BandW does the turnover ball under bed rail system but I dont want to have to torque the hitch down every time I install it. I would rather have some sort of puck system like ford. I found that BandW makes a hitch for the Ford puck system. This is the BWRVK3300. I also found a reese product RP-30158-68 that is a under bed rail puck system with gooseneck and it seems to be compatible with GMC. I was wondering if the BWRVK3300 hitch is compatible with the RP-30158-68 reese under bed rail kit. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali dually 4WD 8 ft bed. I know that the first recommendation you will probably give me is to go with the Reese Elite hitch. Please dont bother. I am not interested in that product. I have heard too many bad things about reese hitches when it comes to failures. I am however also interested in the Curt Q24 with the OEM legs that I think would also fit the reese under bed rail kit. I have heard so many great things about BandW. There are not many bad things to say about it. They take pride in their product. When it comes to Curt, GM suggests this brand of hitch. I havent heard too many things bad about it. One thing I do like about it is that it comes with the polyurethane head already installed on the hitch head. Anyway, please advise if the BWRVK3300 will work with that reese under bed rail kit. Also, please advise if you have any comments pertaining to BandW vs Curt. Again, I am not interested in Reese when it comes to the hitch itself. Thanks,

For an underbed rail system that gives you full bed access when you are not towing I recommend the Reese rail kit, part # RP30868. The hitch that would work well with this is the Curt Q24, part # C16245. To get this system to work together, you will need the adapter, part # RP30154. This allows you to be able to use the Curt hitch with the underbed rail kit. Since you do not seem to like the design of the B&W hitch, this is the system I would go with.

If you change your mind the system I recommend for your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 is the B&W Companion Hitch, part # BWRVK3500-5W. This hitch has a 20,000-lb towing weight capacity and gives you 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact which means less rattle. For an under-bed installation kit I recommend the B&W kit, part # BWGNRK1012-5W.This system is designed to fit the existing holes in your truck frame and give you full bed access with its rail-free design. I have attached a link to an installation video for this system you can check out.

A third option would be the Draw-Tite Hi-Rise Fifth Wheel Hitch, part # 9480-5W, and custom below bed installation kit, part # 9465-56-5W. No adapter is needed for the hitch.

I also recommend a fifth wheel wiring harness like part # 41157. This simply attaches to the back of your existing 7-way connector wiring and lets you retain the use of your 7-way on your bumper.
