Trailer Hitch for Use on the Back of a Pop-Up Camper
Question:
I was wondering if I could get some more detailed dimensions on the UF35-946403. Im looking at adding it to the rear of my pop-up camper. The frame members are 2x5inch box set 62inch apart on center. The bumper, if you could call it that, is a folded piece of light gauge steel that wraps over the top and bottom of the boxed members and is riveted in place. From the images on this product as well as the install guide, it looks like the long adjustable square tube of this product will be recessed behind the bumper when installed, which means that the receiver needs to be able to clear the bumper from underneath. Also of interest is when this is mounted in place, measuring vertically from the underside of the frame that it is welded to, how high does the center of the product sit? I ask this because my camper is a pop-up camper and the backup manual crank point for the lift mechanism is accessed through a hole in the rear bumper and I need to make sure this product wont obstruct access to this. I will not be using this product to pull any trailers, but more for hitch mounted accessories such as a cargo tray or a bike carrier.

According to Ultra-Fab, trailer hitch # UF35-946403 measures approximately 7-1/2 inches from the L-shaped mounting brackets to the face of the receiver. The receiver is welded to the bottom of the cross tube which is 2 inch hollow steel for the adjustment of the inner arms. So from the bottom of the receiver to the top of the cross tube is approximately 5 inches.
It sounds like this hitch will potentially interfere with the lift mechanism you have mentioned. A hitch that attaches to the bottom of the frame such as # C13702 or # C13701 would then be a better option.
Please note that only certain bike racks are rated for use behind an RV or trailer. I have included a link to them for you.
