Brake Controller Install on 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I just installed the MOPAR 7 pin wiring harness. It left the blue wire disconnected in the engine bay. I want to purchase a Tekonsha P3. I have the Tekonsha wiring adapter for the Jeep that plugs in. Do I need to splice my blue wire from under the hood to the blue wire in this Tekonsha wiring harness?

That is correct. If your 2021 Wrangler Unlimited has the connector located under the dash to the left of the steering column near the top of the e-brake pedal as shown in the provided photo, you'd use the # 3073-P harness to connect the # 90195 Tekonsha P3 to the connector under the dash. You'd want to sever the blue wire exiting the rear of the controller and connect it to the blue output circuit you ran from the MOPAR 7-way you installed.

This assumes that the connector under the dash is present. You might need to install fuses or relays to activate the 12-volt power feed to the brake controller. The 30A fuse is in location F36 or F37, the owner's manual wasn't really clear on which.

If you don't have the connector under the dash, you won't need the # 3073-P harness. You'll instead need # 5506 install kit, and you'll need to use the pigtail included with the controller to manually run the 12-volt power to the brake controller, ground the controller to the negative battery terminal, make the stop lamp switch connection and run the 12-volt feed to the 7-way from the battery. The install kit includes the necessary wire, hardware and circuit breakers needed to complete the installation. The video I'll link for you shows these connections.
