Off-Road Lights for Use on Thule Roof Cargo Basket TH859XT

Question:

I like to Pilot Light Bar and would like to place some off road lights on top the THule Roof Cargo Basket I purchased from e trailer. I want to install the light bar on the front center of the front cross bar of the cargo basket. My question is: 1. Will it be okay to drill two holes on the front cross bar to install the light bar but my concern is the cross bar is slightly curved see photo below. I believe the plastic thule wind shield that is screwed onto the front bars can be removed temporarily to install the light bar.

The Thule cargo basket # TH859XT does indeed have a curved front top tube that is the mounting point for it's included wind fairing. The round and curved surface and the presence of the fairing make this a less-than-ideal mounting point for the Pilot Automotive LED Light Bar # PL-9704. It's hardware is made for a flat mounting surface. Yes, you COULD mount it there with a bit of effort (making sure you drill all the way through both sides of the tubing). Note this will void the basket's warranty. I think perhaps a different light, one intended for mounting on round tubing, might be an easier option.

You could try a mounting bracket kit # XIL-B100 along with a Vision X light such as Xmitter Prime IRIS Off-Road Light Bar # XPI-6, LoPro Prime Flood Beam # XIL-LPX940 or Spot Beam # XIL-LPX910. This avoids the need to modify the basket and will not affect it's warranty.
