Aftermarket Trailer Hitch and Trailer Wiring Installation on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee  

Question:

the dealer told me in order to install mopar hitch bumper had to come off and the wiring had to be programed to the computer, dont know if this is for real, what say you. 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

The trailer hitches we sell for your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee do not require that the rear bumper be removed but the rear fascia does need to be detached so it can be moved out of the way to make room for hitch installation.

If your Grand Cherokee has the factory tow hook, it must be permanently removed. To do so, you would have to temporarily remove the rear fascia and a plastic bumper support. The fascia and support get reinstalled near the end of the installation. I have included a link to the installation details for Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 36362, as an example.

For wiring, the harness we sell for the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, # 118425, does not require that the vehicle computer be re-programmed. I have included a link to the installation details and an installation video below.
