We usually gauge trailer hitch installation difficulty by how long it takes to install the hitch. This hitch requires that the exhaust be temporarily lowered and that a heat shield be modified or trimmed so the hitch will fit. We estimate that if you have all the proper tools and another person to help, it will take about 50 minutes to install the Curt Trailer Hitch, # 11372. If you have some automotive experience, this installation will be mildly difficult. I have included a link to the installation instructions below.
Your 2007 Lexus IS250 is rated to tow a certain amount of weight. You will need to check the vehicle owners manual to find how much weight your vehicle can handle. As long as you do not exceed that limit, you will not need to worry about damaging the suspension; especially if you do not plan to tow very often.
The hitch comes with the necessary drawbar but not a hitch ball. I recommend using # A-80 (for trailers that require a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball) or # A-82 (for trailers that require a 2 inch diameter ball).
When towing a trailer, you will also need wiring. The trailer wiring for your Lexus is Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter w Hardwire Kit and Tester - 4-Pole Flat # C59496. This kit provides a 4-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle. I have included a link to the installation details below.
