If you were wanting the weight distribution system to prevent the rear of the vehicle form squatting when a trailer is hitched up, you might consider an Air Helper Spring system like the # AL60747 from Air Lift. The air springs mount inside your current coil springs, and can be inflated when needed to prevent some of that rear send squat. If you click the provided link, you can see the installation instructions.

The leverage provided by the weight distribution system's spring bars places a tremendous amount of force on the hitch, which is then applied to the vehicle at the point where the hitch attaches.

When Curt Manufacturing designed the hitch, they determined that the place on the vehicle where the hitch would mount was not capable of withstanding the extra force that using a weight distribution system would apply to the vehicle.
