Camera for Front of 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Question:
Have a 2013 Chevy 2500HD pickup. It has a factory backup camera but I need one on the front. The truck is very tall compared to a 1500. The hood is flat with large bulges and it is very difficult at least for me to judge how close the truck is to any object in front. A small car can virtually disappear from view and still be several feet away. I leave the back end hanging too far out most of the time because I cant tell how close I am. Can this, or any other, camera be installed with an on/offinch switch so it can be activated on demand without regard for what gear the transmission is in?

The Hopkins Camera part # HM50002 can be installed on the front of a vehicle pretty easily. It would just be a matter of running the wire that normally runs to the reverse light circuit to a switch.
If you check out the install video I attached you will see how this camera gets installed on a vehicle without using a trailer wiring connector. The install will be similar to what you need to do except instead of wiring the camera to a reverse light you will run it to a switched wire.
