Cross Tube Won't Fit Between Frame Brackets on Front Hitch C31018 on a 2016 Ford F-350
Question:
I am installing the front hitch #C31018 on my 2016 Ford-350. I have mounted the side brackets on the OUTSIDE of the frame as instructed and shown on the video. The inside distance from bracket to bracket is 38 1/4 inches. However, the width of the hitch, edge to edge is 38 3/4 inches. Obviously, I cannot mount the hitch to the brackets. How can this be? What am I missing?

Expert Reply:
If you have already tightened the hardware holding the front mount hitch # C31018 side brackets to the frame then that is probably why there isn't enough space for the cross tube and receiver part of the hitch.
If it is loosely installed then there is wiggle room. Even if you just loosened up one side it would make it easier. Once everything is in place and your torque the hardware to the specifications in the instructions everything should fit nice and snug.
