Proper Height of B & W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch Installed in 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Question:

I have a 06 dodge 3500 mega cab. I just bought a BandW Companion and was woundering where I should position my arms . right now they are furthest to rear of truck but it looked to be centered over the Axle. Also how high do the arms need to be set or how do I determine that?

You'll set the hitch height so that the fifth wheel is towed level. Jack the fifth wheel on level ground, and measure the height above ground on the pin box (not the king pin, but the underside of the pin box or skid plate). Then, measure how high off the ground the floor of the tuck is. The difference between those two measurements is the height you hitch will need to be.

Assuming you have a short bed truck and are using the # BWRVK3400-5W sliding hitch, you'll want to install the arms so that the hitch head is placed as rearward as possible as outlined in the instructions that I've linked for you.
