Sidewinder and Underbed Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

got a 2015 2500hd with a 6inch lift trailer is a 40ft with hitch extender and has axles flipped. gvw loaded is 18k truck is also a short bed. would like the under bed kit so no rails in bed. heard lots of good things about reese and the sidewinder.

Reese and Sidewinder both make excellent fifth wheel towing solutions. The Sidewinder is great because it is a pin box replacement that allows the truck and trailer to make tight turns without having to use a slider hitch which can be somewhat of a hassle.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

For an under bed rail kit by Reese for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD short bed you would want the Elite Rail kit part # RP30868. For an 20k fifth wheel hitch to fit this rail kit you would then want the # RP30921. This would work great with the Sidewinder and custom wedge kit # RP44FR..

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
