Solution for Bouncing Trailer with Low Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a custom trailer with a tongue weight of approx 200 pounds. There is considerable bounce due to there not being enough weight in the front of the trailer. Would getting a weight distributing hitch help to alleviate the bounce? Do you make a light weight hitch that would work here? I also need about 3 inches of from the top of the draw bar

Expert Reply:
A weight distribution system wouldn't really help much in your situation. What you can do to help with the bounce is try moving weight up near the front of the trailer so that you can get the tongue weight of the trailer to be 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight.
Getting the trailer as level as possible will also help. If your trailer is sitting nose high currently then that will also contribute to the bouncing. The part # C45154 is a 3 inch drop ball mount with a 2 inch hitch ball. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball with same drop you would need the part # C45151.
