Trailer Jack Recommendation for Coleman Pop-Up Camper 1,200 Pounds
Question:
Hi, I need to replace the factory swivel jack, my popup weighs 1085 and loaded less than 1200. Should the replacement jack be for 1200 or less or more?

Generally, when choosing a trailer jack, we want to take the trailer's loaded and ready to tow tongue weight into consideration. The jack's lift weight should surpass the tongue weight of your trailer.
The tongue weight of a trailer is usually between 10 - 15 percent of the trailer's weight. When loaded, your trailer likely has a tongue weight somewhere between 120 - 180 pounds. Though your trailer has a lower tongue weight, there is be nothing wrong with using a jack that has a 1,200 pound capacity on you trailer.
The trailer jack you referenced, the Fulton Round, Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack- Weld-On # FTJ120W0301 is a great choice for your trailer. This jack has a lift weight capacity of 1,200 pounds and offers 10 inches of lift. When retracted the jack measures 13 inches, and when extended the jack measures 23 inches.
I have attached a review video of this jack, as well as a help article on trailer jacks for you.
