Replacing 175/80-13 Trailer Tires with 185/80-13 Trailer Tires

Question:

Dear Sir/Madam: I own a 2015 Jayco 21foot hybrid trailer with original tires size 175/80D13. Although the tires have less than 10,000 miles and are in good shape, all the literature I have read on trailer tires indicates that they should be replaced at 5 years old. I was considering replacing the 175 with 185/80D13. It appears the only difference is 0.7 inch increase in diameter and 0.2 inch increase in width, but they should fit on the existing wheels and the wheel wells have plenty of clearance. Are there any issues I am not aware of with replacing the 175 with 185 size? Thanks

In regards to replacing 175/80-13 tires with 185/80-13 tires, the only thing you really need to be aware of is the change in dimensions which is very minor (.7" diameter and .4" width). That said, you actually only lose .35" of clearance .20" respectively. I recommend the Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire part # AM10208 which has radial plies therefore will preform better on the highway.
