Gooseneck Ball Kit for a 2015 Ford F-250 with Factory Prep Package

Question:

Is it correct to assume that I must remove the ball from the truck bed and store it in my truck or a tool box if I need a flat bed to haul cargo? Seems like this would be very messy with the grease and all. Also doesnt the locking mechanism get fouled with sand dust and grit ?does not look as though there is any protection from these items during use or when the ball is installed with no trailer connected. Finally is there a taller ball that I can get, most gooseneck hay trailers require a taller ball to support rotation of hay racks for off loading. Thanks

You are correct, on the Reese Elite system you would need to remove the ball in order to have a clear bed for cargo. The Elite Series ball system, # RP30137, comes with a storage bag so grease would not be an issue.

It also includes a magnetic cap to cover the hole so debris cannot get in. The amount of debris that could get in with the ball installed would be minimal since there just isn't a lot of free space.

There is a taller ball available, # RP19315, which has a 1 inch rise. This is just the ball by itself and does not come with the bag, cover, or safety chain loops.
