I will be happy to help you out. The first thing you are going to need is a trailer hitch for your 1995 Chevy 2500. If your truck has the standard or step bumper then the most popular option is Curt hitch # C14081. If it has the factory roll pan bumper then the most popular option is # 41522. And if it has the 10 inch deep drop/cowboy bumper then the most popular option is # 41528.

To determine if weight distribution is needed you will need to know how much the trailer weighs when loaded and ready to tow. If the gross trailer weight is at least 50 percent of the truck's weight then using weight distribution is a good idea. A 28 foot travel trailer probably does weight at least half of what the vehicle weighs.

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

Some systems come with sway control and others do not. If you do wish to use weight distribution I would need to know the weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and if you want sway control and I can make recommendations accordingly.

If you do not want to use weight distribution or sway control then you will need a ball mount that has the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level. I have included a link that explains how to measure for the right rise or drop.

Next you will would need a ball for the ball mount. The coupler should indicate the diameter of the ball needed, likely a 2-5/16 inch. To choose a ball you would first need to choose the ball mount and then selecting a ball will be easy.

You will also need safety chains. If the trailer does not have safety chains you can add some using # C80176 rated for 7,500 pounds but again it is going to depend on the weight of the trailer. If the trailer does not have a place to attach safety chains you could have some brackets welded on, # MB38, by a professional welder, and use some quick links # C82932 to attach the loop end of the safety chains.

And you will need a trailer connector on the truck if it does not already have one. If the trailer has a 4-Way flat you would just need to install # 118315. But if the trailer has a 7-Way then you would install # 118315 and then install # ETBC7. If the trailer also has electric brakes then you will also need a brake controller such as the P2 # 90885.
