What are the dimensions of the length between the mounting holes? I was looking at this and SM-1 - are they the same?

Lippert manual step outriggers # LC301704 and Stromberg Carlson outriggers SM-01 both have the same measurements and hole spacing. I have included a picture showing these measurements for you.

Stromberg has a set of universal install brackets with the part #LC301704 that you can use with the Steps part #SMFP-1100 which you can use to mount them basically anywhere you'd like on your Promaster.

The Lippert Pull Out Steps part #LC432687 have a distance of 7 inches from the top of one step to the top of the step below it. I attached a picture that shows this and a few other dimensions for you to check out as well.

It sounds like a step stabilizer such as #JSS-85 could work for your trailer. It bolts on but based on your description you may need to make modifications if you want it to work in the same way as your old ones.
