The Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit # C59496 will provide you with a 4-way trailer connector. This connector will be hardwired into your vehicle and provide tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals for the lights on your trailer. This connector will not provide operating power to the trailer's electric brakes.
If your Ram Pickup does not have a factory socket at the rear of the vehicle for a trailer connector, you will want to use a hardwire kit, such as # C59496. To provide the 7-way connector and wiring to be able to install a brake controller for your trailer brakes, you will also need an # ETBC7 kit. This kit includes a 4- and 7-way connector as well as the wiring and parts necessary for install.
If you do not already have a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. If your Ram does not have a factory brake controller plug under the dash, you will hardwire the brake controller with the included pigtail and the # ETBC7 kit. I have attached a help article on how to install the # ETBC7 kit for you.
If your vehicle has a factory trailer connector socket at the rear of the vehicle, you can use a trailer connector like the Tow Ready Multi-Plug T-One Connector # 20135. This 4- and 7-way connector plugs into the vehicle's factory wiring harness and does not require any splicing to be done.
Your Ram Pickup may have a factory brake controller plug under the dash. This connector may be hidden behind some of the other wires under your dash. If your vehicle has this port, you will want to use the brake controller wiring adapter # 3020-P to install the brake controller # 90195. This adapter allows you to install the brake controller without cutting or splicing any wires. I have attached an installation video of the Prodigy P3 brake controller with the wiring adapter for you.
