Recommended Components to Prepare 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee for Towing

Question:

Hi, I want to put the Draw-Tite on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3.6L engine. Does not have tow package. What do I need to do for wiring? Do I need any Mopar parts? Do they need to activate anything? Do you sell everything I would need electrically? Anything else I should be concerned with partswise for a complete ready to go installation? Thanks

We can help you get your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee ready for towing.

For a hitch I recommend Curt Class III hitch # C13182. This offers high tongue weight (TW) and gross trailer weight (GTW) ratings of 750-lbs and 5000-lbs. Its also a cost-effective choice. This hitch includes all hardware and requires no drilling. If you have tow hooks they will be permanently removed. If you use the hitch with a bike or cargo carrier you'll need to add stabilizing strap # 18050. If you prefer the Draw-Tite brand you can use hitch # 75699; note this has a lower TW rating of 500-lbs but does NOT require the strap to use a bike or cargo carrier.

The recommended ball mount for the Curt hitch is # C45030 but if you find you need a different amount of height rise or drop you can refer to the linked article and ball mount page to select one that allows your hitched trailer to remain level, which is important for good trailer handling. You will also need a hitch ball of the size required by your trailer coupler; you can use 2-inch ball # 63845 or 2-5/16-inch ball # 63847. You'll also need either a pin and clip # C21500 or a lock such as # e98880.

Since your vehicle is still so new you will need to visit your dealership for a trailer wiring harness and any other related electrical items required, such as fuses.
