Question:
I have a Lippert S3672 axle with idler hub. It is a 3500# axle. Will the Dexter Kits, bearings work on this axle?

A replacement hub and brake assembly will work well with your existing axle if you choose a hub/drum that's compatible with the spindles on your axle, if the replacement hub drum and your existing hub use the same inner and outer wheel bearings and the same wheel bolt pattern, and if your existing axle has a brake mounting flange on it (see photo). I'll link you to our selection of hub/drums for a 3500 lb axle. Simply use the filters on the side of the page to narrow down your selections according to inner and outer bearing number and wheel bolt pattern. I've also linked to an FAQ article that shows how to determine your wheel bolt pattern.
A 3500 lb axle would use a 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake assembly like # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right hand side and # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left. These are self adjusting brake assemblies that self adjust each time the brakes are applied, so you get optimal braking performance without having to adjust the brake shoes.
If your existing axle doesn't have a brake mounting flange like # 4-35 which fits a 2-3/8 diameter axle tube, it's possible to have one welded into place, but you'd need an experienced professional welder who's knowledgeable about trailer fabrication work. If the flange isn't mounted absolutely square and concentric, the brakes will never operate correctly. Most folks find it easiest to simply replace the axle.
If you'd care to go that route, we offer a few off the shelf axles in standard sizes. If you could reply with the hub face to hub face dimension and the center to center distance between the spring seats, I can check to see if we have a suitable replacement axle.
