Electric Trailer Winch Recommendation for a 6,000 lb Boat  

Question:

purchased boat from U.S.A. had trailer made with a masterlock electric winch 2000 lb capacity. never used as didnt receive12 volt plug for winch. what size winch would u recommend for my boat weighing 6000lbs. thanks

For boat winches the general rule of thumb is that the ratio for capacity to boat weight is 2 to 1.

Since you have a 6,000 lb boat you would want at least a 3,000 lb rated winch. For that I would recommend the Dutton Lainson Strongarm Winch part # DL25215 as it has a 3k rating and would work great for you.
