Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Toyota Tacoma

Both the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13323 and the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch # 75236 would work well for you. These Class III trailer hitches have a 2 inch receiver, 5,000 pound max towing weight and 500 pound max tongue weight. For installation, both hitches require the bumper brackets to be loosed or removed.

I would go with the Curt trailer hitch, as it is more economically friendly than Draw-Tite.

The trailer hitch will bolt into existing weld nuts on your truck's frame. A cleaning brush, # 814092, will help you to clean the weld nuts to ease installation. I have included installation videos of both hitches on 2015 Tacomas for you.

If you need a wiring harness, I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Wiring Harness # 118496. This wiring harness plugs into your exsisting wiring behind the taillights of your Tacoma. I have attached an installation video of this wiring harness on a 2015 Tacoma for you.

I recommend our etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900 if you need a ball mount and hitch ball for your towing. This kit comes with two ball mounts of different rises and drops, and two hitch balls with different ball diameters. The kit also includes a pin and clip, as well as a ball mount bag for storage. I read reviews that for a bike rack they liked the curt over the drawtite because it did not sway as much is this true and would I need the strap with the curt that I here people talk about to cover their warranty?

In our experience, we have noticed that Curt tends to use more powder coat on their trailer hitches than Draw-Tite does. Because of this, some customers notice that their bike racks have a tighter fit. In order to best limit bike rack sway, I recommend an anti-rattle hitch pin, if your bike rack does not already come with one. Most anti-rattle pins are made to fit specific bike rack manufacturers. For example, the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2 is designed to fit most Thule hitch mount bike racks. We do offer some universal anti-rattle hitch lock, but it is important to note that most are designed to work with hollow shank mounts and accessories. The Lets Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 is a universal anti-rattle hitch lock that we have found works well. If you can tell me what bike rack you have, I would be happy to see if we have an anti-rattle device that will work for you. I have double checked, and the Curt trailer hitch # 13323 for your 2014 Toyota Tacoma does not require the use of stabilizing straps to comply with Curt's warranty. This stipulation most commonly appears on Curt Class I, Class II, and a small number of Class III hitches.

Both of the two bike racks Yakima has on the market currently have anti-rattle devices built-in. The anti-rattle devices in these bike racks are engaged by turning a knob at the bottom front of the bike rack. Because of this, Yakima does not offer a separate anti-rattle device. They do have a hitch lock compatible with their anti-rattle bolts, the Yakima HitchLock # Y07235.
