Adapter to Mate 6-Way Square Trailer Connector to 4-Pole Flat Vehicle Connector
Question:
Hello, We just purchased a 1999 Dutchmen 801D tent trailer, and need an adapter for trailer lights from the 6-prong square plug on the frame to a 4-pin flat on my truck. I have attached a picture of the plug on the frame. Would product 30104 work correctly on this plug? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

First, thank you for including the photo of your pop-up trailer's connector. Photos always helps us help you.
You are correct that Hidden Hitch Jayco adapter # 30104 will let you connect a 4-pole flat connector to a 6-way square connector on a Jayco brand trailer but your Dutchmen 801D may not be wired with the same pin configuration. You can try this part and it might indeed work, and if it does not you could cut it and re-wire the two sides to the appropriate set up using butt connectors.
Or, you could use two separate parts and wire them together yourself in the correct configuration. All you'd need to do is test the wires on the trailer to see what pin activates what function; you can do this by applying 12V power to the various connector pins to see what lights up. Then you can use part # 37995 (you'd use only one half) along with a 4-pole trailer-side connector like # 18045, one connector of which you would cut off.
You'll want to use butt connectors to make the splices, such as # DW05744-10, and to also tape them up to keep out moisture.
