What Class of Hitch Should I Use To Tow Motorcycle Trailer With 2013 Subaru Forester
Question:
I have a 2013 Subaru Forester, non-turbo model. Im looking to buy a 5foot x 8foot utility trailer, to use for towing a 700 lb. motorcycle. The G.V.W.R. Is 2000 lbs. The vehicle has a 2,400 lb. towing capacity. Which class of tow hitch is recommended ? Thanks

I recommend going with a Class III hitch like the Curt Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 13147, for your 2013 Subaru Forester. A Class III not only offers you the highest towing capacity available for your Forester but it is also more versatile when it comes to the availability of hitch mounted accessories since it provides a 2 inch receiver opening.
Since you plan on doing some towing I have included an article that covers the steps to choosing the correct ball mount for your set-up. You might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, I have included a link to additional ball mount options for you.
For trailer wiring, take a look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # C56040.
