Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness Options for 2002 Jeep Liberty

Question:

Can I use a Hopkins #48915 taillight converter on my 2002 Jeep Liberty? We tow a small pop-up trailer. Incandescent brake/turn signals and LED marker lights on each corner. Not sure if i should buy that and splice it in or buy a vehicle specific kit. Thanks.

If you're comfortable with the process of using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to locate which circuit serves which taillight function, and then tapping the input wires for the Hopkins # HM48915 taillight converter into those circuits, you can certainly use that option. This being said, the Curt # C55382 converter would be a plug and play option that would be much easier to install. Better still would be the Tow Ready # 118524. The Tow Ready is also a plug and play option, but instead of drawing the electric power to illuminate the trailer lights through the taillight circuits (which can tend to be fragile), it's drawn directly from the vehicle battery. This option further isolates the wiring of the tow vehicle from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring.

It's kind of a 'good, better, best' scenario.
