Recommended Clearance Between Trailer Frame Rail and Trailer Tire

Question:

HOW MUCH CLEARANCE IS NEEDED FROM INSIDE OF 15 IN. TIRE TO FRAME ON A TRAILEr

The minimum distance between the inside of a tire and the frame rail depends a lot on the setup of the trailer. But as long as the tire and the frame don't touch you would be fine. It's hard to give an exact figure as trailer setups can vary and some trailers may have more side to side movement which would call for more clearance. If the suspension is good on the trailer and not worn out I would go with at least 1-1/2 inches to be on the safe side.

I have a 1997 Kwik Kamp, pop up motorcycle trailer, the trailer has 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tires on it that are rated for 65 MPH. Is there a tire that I can purchase for my camper that will allow me to go at a faster speed?

All of our 5.70-8 size tires have the same 65 mph speed rating. In order to upgrade to a higher speed you'll need to bump up quite a bit in size as well.
