Reese 83660 Friction Sway Control Unit is Making Groaning Noise
Question:
I have a Reese Friction Sway Control Kit on my 26RL TT, is there anyway to control the growning noise it makes when turning a low speed ?

Expert Reply:
The groaning or creaking noise you hear is completely normal, its the sound of the friction material rubbing against the metal of the arm that attaches to the weight distribution head or ball mount. It's acceptable to lightly lubricate the balls that either end of the friction sway control unit rides on, but you should NOT lubricate the actuating arm of the sway control unit, as it will negate the sway control function.
I've confirmed this with Reese, the manufacturer of the Reese # 83660 friction sway control.
