Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI
Question:
I am the proud owner of a 2015 GOLF TDI Automatic and wish to tow my jetski. I am looking for a hitch that can handle about 1400lbs for the above vehicle. Please advise if you have such a product as well as the correct electrical harness. How tough is the product to install. Thanks

We have everything that you will need to tow your jetski with your 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt I Trailer Hitch, # C11412. This hitch has a towing capacity of 2,000lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200lbs.
For a towing setup you will need a ball mount and a hitch ball. You can use the ball mount # C45521 & Pin and Clip # F-4 along with part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. You will want to check the coupler on your trailer to determine what size ball you will need.
Before you tow, I recommend checking with your local Volkswagen dealer to make sure your Golf can handle towing the weight of your jetski and trailer. We have found that most cars will have actual towing capacities lower than that of the trailer hitch. If your car has a lower capacity, you must go by that limit.
The installation is not very difficult, but I would set aside 3 or 4 hours if you have not installed many trailer hitches. There is no drilling or welding required, but you will have to trim part of the bumper fascia and you will have to fish two bolts through the frame using the included fishwire. Fishwiring usually causes the biggest headache, but I attached a help video that explains how to properly fishwire a bolt through the vehicle's frame for you to check out.
