I called my contact at Tekonsha and asked about replacing the Dodge Integrated Brake Controller if the truck is a 2010 through 2015. If you have a different year Ram just let me know and I can make some recommendations that will work for you.
They told me the best way to go about replacing the controller is to take the vehicle to a Dodge dealership and have them disconnect the ITBM. Doing this will turn on a warning lamp on the instrument cluster. The dealership will then need to reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) which will turn the warning light off.
You can then use a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195. I recommend this brake controller because it is so easy to install and operate.
For installing the new brake controller, you would use a brake controller wiring harness. This simply plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end plugs into the vehicle brake controller wiring harness.
For Dodge Ram trucks that are 2010 - 2012 the wiring harness to use is part # 3021-P. For 2013 - 2014 you would use part # 3023-P.
