Recommended Air Bags for a 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500 6-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
Chris B. Thank you for your video on how to disassemble the Reese RP 30870 5th wheel hitch. This will now make it more manageable to remove the hitch from my truck instead of having it as a perminate fixture. Thank you. I also have another question. A friend told me that I should install air bags under my back axle 1 for clearance and the other to make my ride smoother. I have plenty of clearance and towing a 5 th wheel is new to me, so Im not sure what rough is. What is the purpose of air bags? Thank you

The purpose of adding air springs is to provide additional support to the factory suspension so it doesn't sag from weight of cargo. Air springs won't add to the tow capacity though.
The purpose is to level your vehicle if you are hauling heavy loads, enhance braking and reduces rear vehicle sag to name a few.
With that said, I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs # F2709 (2WD or 4WD) as it will have a load leveling capacity up to 7,500 pounds. You can also adjust the air pressure between 5 psi and 150 psi. This kit will include custom-fit brackets to connect to your axle and frame.
A worthwhile investment to compliment the Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs is the Firestone single gauge air compressor # F2158. This will allow you to control the air springs from inside the cab of your 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500.
I included a couple installation videos and informative article for you too.
