Parts Needed to Install Primus Brake Controller on a 2013 Toyota Tundra with Factory Tow Package
Question:
We just bought a 2013 Tundra with a Factory Tow Package including the pre-installed wiring harness for a brake controller. All I need is the brake controller itself...unless I also need to install circuit breakers under the hood. Is there any way I can confirm that I either will, or will not need to install circuit breakers? I cant figure out a good way to find this info and Im ready to purchase the Primus controller so I would really appreciate your insight before I order. Thanks

The only time a circuit breaker would be needed is if you were hardwiring in a brake controller to a vehicle. On vehicles where the brake controller just plugs in you will not need to add any circuit breakers.
For your 2013 Toyota Tundra with factory tow package and Primus brake controller you would use wiring harness # 3040-P to plug it right into the truck. I have linked a video showing a brake controller being installed on a 2013 Tundra using this harness.
If you have the Toyota harness then you will not need the 3040-P harness but you would have to splice the brake controller wires into the Toyota harness by function.
The brake controller uses white for ground, black for 12 volt power, red for input from the brake switch/stop light circuit, and blue for output to the trailer brakes.
