Installing Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller on 2015 Honda Pilot EX-L

Question:

After viewing the video showing how to mount the P2 on a Pilot model a bit earlier than mine, it looks like my leg would hit the controller when moving from the gas pedal to the brake. Just under the radio, is a big open area. I was wondering if I could just set the controller in the open area. Perhaps secure the pocket mounting bracket with Velcro for easy in and out. The surface that the controller would be sitting on would be level. I notice that the P2 comes with a pocket mounting bracket. Is this type of bracket available for the P3 as well?

The P3 uses a different sort of bracket, that's more like a clip.

The problem with mounting the mounting pocket using the hook and loop stuff is that it's not a tight connection. It takes a certain amount of force to operate the manual braking switch located on the underside of the Prodigy P2, not a huge amount of force, but enough to dislodge the pocket from the hook and loop fastener. Say the pocket has come loose, and is no longer pointed in the direction of travel. This means that the internal sensor in the P2 won't work properly for the next time the brakes are applied, which is potentially dangerous.

I've looked at photos of the dash of the 2015 Pilot, and it looks like the cubby in the center console would work if you could permanently attach the pocket to the roof of it. My second choice to install the controller would be on the downward slope of the dash to the right of the steering column. When the mounting pocket is used, the controller will be tight up against the dash, which will lessen the chances of your leg hitting the controller.

To install the controller, you'll need the # 3070-P wiring harness, which would plug into the socket under the dash
