Sway Control System Recommendation for 30 Toy Hauler 13,000 LBS
Question:
I currently have a Draw Tite trailer sway control for my trailer. Not sure which model it is but it appears to be pretty worn out as it is not controlling trailer sway very well any longer. Is there a re-build kit available for these units or are they a throw away and replace when worn? I have a 30foot toyhauler that when loaded is approx 13,000lbs. What replacement unit would you recommend? The Curt unit seems to be more cost effective. Thanks

The wear that you are experiencing on your sway control unit could be due to the fact that only one unit is being used on your trailer.
Since your toy hauler is 30' long, we recommend using 2 of the Reese Friction Sway Control Kits, # 83660. This unit reduces trailer sway caused by crosswinds and traffic for improved stability and increased towing safety. It's also a customer favorite because it is economical, very easy to use, and can be installed on the left or right side of the trailer. I have attached an installation video for you.
Draw Tite does not offer a re-build kit for the sway control unit so it sounds like it is probably time for a replacement.
