Trailer Leaf Spring Hanger Spacing Measurements for Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit APS1
Question:
Expert Reply: The rear hanger should be slightly closer to the axle forward of the trailer. If you look at the drawing on the product page for Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs, # APS1, you will see the rear hanger is more forward than the center of the rear eye of the spring. The shackle, then, is at a slight angle with the top more forward than the bottom. PR4B have 25 1/4 inches to center of one eye to center of other eye. In your article of ASP1 hanger you write distant between center of hanger is 25 3/4 inches for PR4B. This is not the condition in expert reply response. The distant of hanger APS1 center hole to center hole hangers , is more than the PR4B leaf spring center to center hole. the bottom of the shackle will be forward to the top. the distant of APS1 center to centerhole in PR4B leaf spring is 24 3/4 inches?.No 25 3/4 inches?. Please excuse me. My english is bad.

The measurements given on the hanger kits including # APS1 are a guide only. The actual measurements will vary and to get the suspension set up correctly you would first mock up all the parts without permanently installing them. Then once the parts are in the proper positions they can be permanently installed.
Basically the charts and measurements given on the hangers kits are good starting points but will not work for every situation.
