Need Higher Capacity Blue-Ox Bolt-On Base Plate Bracket Kit for 2000 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Jameson C. recommended part BX88230 to be used with this bumper for flat towing. Since BX88230 requires drilling the bumper, will this affect the warranty of the bumper? The BX88230 seems to be too small for pulling the whole weight of my 2000 wrangler though its rated 5000lbs. Do u have the same style that is rated higher? Thanks.

The Blue Ox Bolt-On Base Plate Bracket Kit, # BX88230, will require that you drill into your bumper and the bumper will most likely need to be reinforced or modified.
I spoke with my technical contact at Bestop regarding the HighRock 4x4 High Access Front Bumper, # B4291701, and any modifications, including drilling, will void the warranty for the bumper. Due to the fact that the Bestop bumper has not been tested for flat towing, they can not recommend that you use it for this purpose.
The Blue Ox Bolt-On Base Plate Bracket Kit, # BX88230, that Jameson recommended has been tested and was determined to have a 5,000 pound capacity. If you feel that the 5,000 pound capacity isn't sufficient in order to flat tow your 2000 Jeep Wrangler, we do offer the Blue Ox Universal Bolt-On Adapter Tabs, # BX88266, which have a 20,000 pound capacity. Same style as part # BX88230 but with the higher capacity.
