Parts Needed to Convert Existing Brakes on 5th Wheel to Disc Brakes

Question:

I cant find a Disc Brake conversion kit for my 2012 5TH wheel. It has tandem axle 15inch wheels with 6 bolt on 5-1/2 hub plate. the bearings are inner #25580 and outer #15123. I would need the complete price for the conversion kit. Thanks

The disc brakes for a 5.2 or 6K axle aren't kitted like the 3500 lbs axles are, but we could certainly piece together a kit for you.

You'd need:

2) Kodiak Disc Brake Kits, part # K2HR526D (which are compatible with your spindles)
1) Titan Brake Line Kit, part # T4830000
1) Break Away Kit, part # 50-85-313
1) Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator, part # HBA16

The product page for the brake line kit has a diagram at the bottom that shows how the line kit is assembled. You don't need the flex line to run directly into the actuator, you can eliminate 'A' and run the hard brake line directly into the actuator. Use part 'A' in place of part 'G' shown in the diagram. You'll need one additional length of flex line to replace 'E', I'd recommend using part # T0980100.

You'll also need an electric over hydraulic compatible brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. Depending on the vehicle, if you have an OEM brake controller, it might not be compatible with the actuator. If you have an aftermarket controller, you'll want to be sure it's compatible with electric over hydraulic brake actuators.

The above assumes your 5th wheel is currently equipped with electric brakes. If that's not the case, please let me know. You can see pricing for the abovementioned items by clicking the provided links. I'll also link you to a help article about adding disc brakes to an electric brake equipped trailer.
