Which Weight Distribution System is Best For a Ford F-150 Raptor and a 16 Foot Airstream Trailer

Question:

I have a 16 Airstream with dry weight of 2921, hitch weight of 442 and GVWR of 3500 lbs. I will be pulling this unit with a Ford F150 Raptor set up for off-road capabilities with listed tow limit of 6000 lbs. This camper will likly be filled to the full 3500 lbs when towed. I will also have 100-200 pounds of weight in the truck bed behind the rear axle. My question is this: 1 which of the Reese WDSC systems is best for this application, 66151, 66153, 66155, 66157 or something else? Thx.

From the weights you have listed it looks like you may at times have as much as 700 pounds of tongue weight with the weight loaded behind the rear axle in the truck. I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, 800 lbs. TW / 10,000 lbs. GTW, item # RP66073, as long as your tongue weight will not exceed 800 lbs at any time.

Another option, if you need sway control, would be the Reese Strait-Line Hitch 800 lbs TW / 12,000 lbs GTW, item # RP66073. The Strait-Line sway control system helps keep sway from starting rather than trying to control sway after it starts like the SC system and others.

Along with the weight distribution system you may need some of the following items to complete your towing setup.

Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, 8,000 lbs GTW - Chrome, item # A-90
Hitch Ball with 2-5/16 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, 12,000 lbs GTW - Chrome, item # 19286
Weight Distributing Shank - Cushioned, item # AMAC1
Reese Weight Distributing Shank, 14,000 lbs., item # RP54970
