Calculating Ball Mount Height for 2015 EX Loader Tandem  

Question:

I have a 2012 Toyota Tundra Crewmax SR5 4x4 and Im towing a 2015 Skeeter ZX225 boat on a 2015 EZ Loader tandem axle trailer. I am trying to figure out what rise/ I need so my trailer will tow level. It is a tandem axle trailer on torsion bars and when I contacted EZ Loader they commented it needed to be level so the weight is evenly distributed on both axels. I do not know where a level surface is where I can go take the measurements for calculating the rise/. I was seeing if you could assist. All EZ Loader would say is my coupler height is 17-19inch when level. Thanks.

Having a 17-19 inch level trailer coupler height is pretty typical.

Without having the boat and trailer at my disposal, I'm at a disadvantage, but I can link you to an FAQ article that shows how to determine the rise or drop you need. Measure from the inside top of the receiver opening to the ground. The height difference between the inside top of the receiver and the underside of the coupler when the trailer is level is the rise or drop you'll need.

If the truck receiver height is higher than the coupler, you'll to use the ball mount in the drop position. Vice versa if the coupler height is taller than the receiver height.

The good news here is that you don't have to get the ball mount height exactly right. Being two inches off high or low would be plenty close enough. If it were me, I'd use 18 inches as the coupler height to find the height difference and determine which ball mount is needed.
