Is Ford Lighted Hitch Cover # CR-007F Compatible with 2015 Ford Escape Tow Package
Question:
i have attached the hitch cover to my 2015 ford escape SEL. the light is illuminated when i apply the brake lights and right turn signal. however when i turn on the left signal i get a trailer brake light bulb fault signal and the blinker is flashing much faster than normal. is there a way to fix this by wiring the connector differently? thank you.

When the Ford Brake Light Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover, # CR-007F, is plugged into the factory tow package wiring of your 2015 Ford Escape it makes the vehicle's computer think that a trailer is connected. Since this connector only has two pins there is no power draw on the left turn signal/taillight. Some vehicles with the factory tow package will then throw an error code thinking something is wrong. This is why you are experiencing the fault signal and fast flashing when you use the left turn signal.
This isn't an issue with all vehicles, just a select few that are equipped with a factory tow package that recognizes everything plugged into the 4-way as a trailer. This receiver cover can not be wired in any other way.
