Troubleshooting Trailer Sway with a Trailer with a Pintle Style Coupler

Question:

Is there a bushing that can be installed onto the lunette ring to take up the slop looseness in the pintle hook. It just seems to be a loose fit and I notice some trailer sway when towing?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Due to the heavy duty nature of the lunette style pintle setups there isn't a bushing available for the rings.

The sway you are experiencing is most likely due to improper trailer loading. If you move as much of the weight of your cargo forward on the trailer as you can you should see a drastic improvement.

You also want to make sure your trailer is being towed as level as possible. Also check to make sure the tire pressure in all of your trailer tires is inflated to the max psi rating that is listed on the sidewall of the tires, and make sure the trailer suspension components are in good working order.
