A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

how to find the right tie down for my truck - custom camper tiedown

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Product itself was easy enough to install, works as designed, very happy. Shipping boxes however were not quite adequate for the job, needs improvement!

THESE TORKLIFT CAMPER TIE DOWNS ARE AMAZING MY CAMPER HAS NOT SHIFTED NOR HAVE THESE BRACKETS SHOWN SIGS OF FATIGUE . I RECOMMAND GETTING THESE BEST ON THE MARKET !

by:

The strength and quality are pretty good but there are already spots showing a bit of rust after just one year of use. Wish the aluminum had been in stock.

Thank you for the photo. If your tie downs are exposed to a lot of road salt or salt water I recommend to periodically spray them off with fresh water to avoid future corrosion. I have attached a helpful article for your reference.

by:

They are as advertised, they work. There is no drilling required and therefore no wreaking of the frame. It seems that the truck manufacturers are serious about the payloads and drilling may load to overloads and frame failure. Of course etrailer is great to do business with

Dodge Ram Pickup

2021 RAM 2500 w Factory long running boards. Like any other review, the parking brake cable is the only hard part to the install. Great kit.

by:

I really like the way the truck and camper ride, very stable. The ability to remove the extensions when the camper is off is really a nice feature too.

by:

No instructions and have to remove emergency brake cables for install…going to a shop now…gggrrrrr

The kit should have came with instructions on how to disconnect the emergency brake cable. Torklift is pretty secretive about their install instructions and do not like to post them online.

One year and several camping trips later and this is still a great product…no regrets or issues

by:

Did not fit properly, welded some scrap metal on frame attachment bracket to fix. When bolted to rear cab mount frame attachment bracket was a poor fit.

These should fit without any modification. Does your vehicle fit either of these descriptions? 8 Foot Bed - with board or step extending under bed and with a factory installed hitch 8 Foot Bed - with board or step extending under bed and with a TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum 30K. If you have something different then that may be why it is causing issues for you.

by:

Great product have used it on an older pickup that I have. Best way to secure your camper to the.truck.

by:

Unable to install, all hardware lost in shipping, contacted etrailer and they said they would send me replacement hardware, that was three or four days ago. I have not received any updates about the new parts or if thay have been shopped

This frame mounted camper tiedown was well made and as advertised required no welding. Unfortunately, for the front driver's side of the truck, it required a disassembly and reassembly of the parking brake cable. Taking apart and putting back together the parking brake cable was by far the most difficult part of the job and there was no warning this would be required when purchasing the product. Also, I think there were errors in the torquing requirements some of which were beyond what I could do by hand even with an extension. However this high torque requirement may have been for the back frame mounts not the front. The big advantage of this system is that you can take off the extension that actually connects to the tie down, so nothing is sticking out from the truck when the camper is off.

I've been installing TorkLift tiedowns on my previous Super Duty pickups for 20 years. I now have a new one ton Ram and I wanted to get another set of Torklifts because they're the best tie down system there is. The earlier ones required drilling holes in the frame; it wasn't a big deal, it's just how they were made. But man, these new ones! First of all, they're BEEFY. Much heavier than the older ones. And they're not painted; these are powder coated and look very nice. Installation using the existing factory mounts and holes is sure better than drilling. The only issue was the parking brake cable, which has to come off. It was a bit of a pain. I needed a much deeper 1/2" socket than anything I had in order to back off the adjusting nut... so I used a little redneck technology by inserting a larger socket over the 1/2" deep socket and just taping the heck out of it to hold them together. Go ahead and laugh but it worked. One thing's for sure--- my big Lance camper ain't coming off with THESE beasts holding it on. And the only way to keep your camper in place and NOT risk damaging the bed is by anchoring it to the frame. And these are MADE IN AMERICA. They're not some inferior, light gauge steel made in you-know-where. Same for the hardware. Expensive? A little, unless you consider it as an investment in making sure your REALLY expensive camper stays put. Five stars... unless I can give them six.

by:

Torklift mounts are easy to install and are the only mount that will fit on my 2019 Ram 3500 contrary to what Happijac might tell you. They install to the frame and are out of the way until I put the camper on. The frame extensions are easy to put on and secure the camper without the need to do additional drilling. I"m sold on this system

2021 Ram 3500

These are expensive, but they're built like a tank. Very heavy and solid, but still an easy, straightforward installation. The best part of the package is etrailer's customer service. One of the items in the hardware package was missing, but a quick call resolved the problem right away and the part was shipped out the next day. Good customer service is key to online shopping, and etrailer has nailed it!

by:

Love the product, very strong. The front bracket that connects to the frame hangs down a little far down.

by:

Good tie downs, functioning well with no problems.

by:

The instructions were clear and easy to follow. They fit just as described and took 2 hours to install. No holes put Quick shipping to. in pickup and easy to tie camper down. Like that they don't stick out past box when not in use.

by:

I wouldn’t use anything else

by:
2019 Ram 3500

I have used Torklift in the past and know the product quality. It was a little confusing figuring out which part number but e-trailer customer support was spot and very prompt. Always a pleasure.

by:

These are excellent tie downs and install easily. My only complaint is that after a year and about 6000 miles, the powder coating is chipping away and I have only been on pavement

by:
2020 Ram 3500

The mounts are everything they were advertised to be. Unfortunately it took etrailer a month to even ship it although they said that it was in stock.

by:

Everything fit perfectly. Would have been nice to have had the instructions in the package so I didnt have to go find them on the internet though.

by:

super helpfull and worked with me on getting the right product that i needed

by:

This was an easy installation, even without a lift. Works great.

by:

These work great. Installing them can be challenging but the directions are pretty straightforward. I recommend this!
