Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars - RM-RSSA

  • Steering Stabilizer
  • Roadmaster
  • Mounting Hardware Not Included

Keep your motor home in line with this unique system. The sturdy steel spring works to correct oversteering and return your vehicle to center for increased control. Requires custom mounting brackets (sold separately).

Features:

  • Compensates for oversteering and returns your vehicle to center
    • Tempered steel spring works to return to its normal state - when compressed, spring pushes back into neutral position; when extended, it pulls back
  • Attaches to the steering mechanism on one end and to the chassis undercarriage on the other
    • Tight connection between these components keeps steering firm and controlled
  • Helps you to maintain control of your vehicle in the event of crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging or a tire blowout
  • Reduces road fatigue - stabilizer keeps you centered so that you don't have to work as hard to steer
  • Installs in approximately 1 hour with no drilling or welding
    • Custom mounting brackets (sold separately) are required for installation
  • Made in USA
  • Limited 1-year warranty

A variety of things can make your vehicle veer - crosswinds, uneven pavement, tire blowout. The key to a pleasant, and safe, driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer works to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to oversteer in an attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing road fatigue.

The stabilizer attaches to your vehicle's tie rod on one end and to the frame on the other. A heavy-duty steel spring runs the length of the rod, constantly working to keep steering controlled. If you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. If you oversteer your vehicle in the same direction it is already moving, the spring will compress for a moment but then push back out to its prior state. No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center.

Mine went bad within the first year and was sent a replacement unit quickly. The new one seems to be working fine.

by:

Bought this for my 2022 Thor Hurricane 22K chassis, it seems as the stroke is too short to be able to turn wheels to the stops. So you don’t get into tight spots very easily with out backing up and repositioning yourself to move forward. Also tightened down the tie rod clamps to spec and the end slid on the tie rod just while trying to make a turn into a parking spot. Later had to get underneath and reposition and find center again. Wish I would have spent the money and got something else. Had a safer plus on previous motor home with no problems

I received my front anti sway bar (RM-1139-140) around noon on the day it was promised. The package was undamaged and all parts were contained within. After lunch I installed the bar in less than 30 minutes, which included the removal of the factory bar. I installed it by myself from the ground. Simple install although I did deviate some from the instructions to make it easier for me as the bar is heavy. Instructions say to attach the bar to the axle with the bushings and saddle clamps first, then bolt the endlinks. Instead I bolted the endlinks first then simply swung/rotated the bar to the axle and attached with the saddle clamps. I did not have to lift the heavy bar to the axle as the weight was already supported by the endlinks. Easier if doing the install alone in my opinion. About a week prior I had installed a Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer ( RSSA-RBK9). These 2 items greatly improved the steering and sway problems which were extremely bad in my 2013 Winnebago Vista 26HE. So bad that I considered the drive extremely stressful and dangerous. With these 2 parts added the drive is now 80 to 90 per cent improved. Very happy.

I have been using on-line automotive vendors for as long as the internet has existed. In my opinion there are none better than etrailer. Superb technical help. Outstanding product knowledge. And, if they're not sure about something - they check! They match legitimate prices, and are quick to respond with the difference. What more could a customer ask for? MY latest orders were with the help of Michelle (supervisor) and Sarah. Certainly no disappointments with either of them!

The steering stabilizer has been terrific. 4500 mikes since installation. Wouldnt own a gas class A without one. Makes a big difference. My front end is very stable.

Our 2013 motohome is built on the Ford F-53 chassis with a 20,500 GVWR. Prior to this trip, i had driven the motorhome 11,000 miles. I ordered the stabilizer while travelling and had it shipped to a warehouse facility. We picked it up, drove an hour to a highway rest area, and installed it in an hour. Our 3,000 mile trip through 4 western states allowed testing in most weather and road conditions. Our motorhome is 30 ft long with a 190 inch wheelbase so it requires a lot of focus on steering when there are strong sidewinds and/or when large trucks are passing from behind. After driving for 8 hours, my upper body would be worn out.
The steering stabilizer is a very subtle addition. It softens the impact such that major steering corrections are no longer required. At first I thought we wern't encountering the same conditions as we had on previous trips because the steering corrections were minor. After 1500 miles it became evident that the stabilizer was doing its job. I still feel the pressure from wind and trucks while driving but I'm not nearly as tired at the end of the day.

by:

Out of everything installed on my class A 24000 GVW coach, I feel this one had the most impact. I installed the rear sway bar, front sway bar and this steering shock. The stability in the steering was very noticeable. It seemed to help keep the coach in the lane when being passed by a truck or from a gust of wind. You still feel the push and pull in those situations but it's not as bad. I found myself not being as tense while driving with the upgrades installed.

by:

Nice heavy shock hope it does the job not to bad to install have not driven the RV yet to see how it handles

Great

by:

Had this RSSA installed on my 2019 Newmar BayStar. A world of difference in the steering. Not as much play in the steering wheel as before. Made the time behind the wheel more enjoyable, not constantly correcting the steering to go straight down the road. I would highly recommend this addition to your motorhome.

by:

Received the order within two business days on free shipping. I was unable to find the mounting brackets for the stabilizer on line, but Brittany took care of that for me. Order arrived with no issues or damage. Installed the stabilizer today with one small glitch. I had to remove one bolt from the front sway bar in order to gain access to the bolt on the axel. No other issues. Took about one hour for installation, but highly recommend an extra set of hands to help out with installation. My rig, a 2004 Fleetwood Flair 33R did not have a previous stabilizer and you felt the pull when going over potholes, manhole covers and uneven road. It was two hands on. This stabilizer now allows one hand steering. Takes a little getting used to when making a sharp turn onto a cross street as the steering wheel quickly returns back to center. I highly recommend the product and etrailer.

  • Difference Between Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizers
The difference between the Roadmaster Reflex steering stabilizers is how they connect to the brackets that fit onto the RV. Take a look at the pictures I attached and you can see the difference between the ends of them. # RM-RSSA has eyes on both ends # RM-RSSB has an eye on one end and a threaded stud on the other # RM-RSSC has a stud on both ends # RM-RSSA should be correct for your motorhome on a 2008 Ford F-53 chassis. They also said that using all of these items together will help overall performance. I recommend the Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars, part # RM-1139-143. This attaches to the rear of the...
