Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its rear axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

Wonderful product and its smoothed out our RV ride less sway than ever before and it was simple to install.

by:

Had this installed along with a front sway bar & steering stabilizer. The rig doesn’t wear me out anymore, I can drive all day long. Just the result I was hoping for.

by:

Having the front and rear sway bars on my Jayco Alante 31 V has made a tremendous difference in the handling. As always the service from your company is exceptional !!!

by:

We find that our RV is more stable and handles better. Wind gusts have less effect on the track of the RV. Also, the wind gusts from large trucks are less troublesome. My wife drives all the time and she is very happy with the result. In addition to the anti sway bar, we installed steering stabilization and heavy duty shock absorbers.

The installation was harder than discri bed

by:

Parts came in 3 working days. Packaged well and all parts included. Gwen took the order was very professional and knowledgeable. I am have parts installed next week and look forward to driving the motorhome to see how it is improved.

by:

Well built. Well designed. Installation was easy. Improved the handling/ride quite a bit!

by:

Etrailer is by far the BEST place to buy RV parts, period! I didn’t know that they have a price match guarantee, and if it is sold cheaper somewhere else, they will price match it!
Tannith saved me hundreds of $$$! Even on an order I placed the month before, because I was not aware of the price match!
I can’t say enough about their service, communication and dedication that you are getting the right part for your RV.
I will continue to do business with them because they are honest and dependable and provide great updates and communication!
Plus you get to talk to a real person when you call in, plus you can understand them!

by:

This motorhome would rock side to side going down the road, we ordered this sway bar kit and it has helped tremendously.
Great product.

by:

Added this sway bar to our 29' Winnebago. Great results and a great upgrade for stability. Installation was straight-forward, hardest part was breaking loose the original bolts.

Roadmaster

Thank you ET for such a great product. The easy install was great. I did it all in my drive way. The Roadmaster 1139-146 really tamed the rear of my 2019 Thor wind sport.

by:

great product does what it is supposed to do, rig does not wander anywhere near what it was before installing the sway bar.

by:

The finish is not very good. It has scratches everywhere
Shawnee from etrailer was great!

by:

Should have bought it earlier. Makes a huge difference in driving. It took the rock and roll out for sure. I had to leave off the inside washers on allen bolts to line up the shocks. Installed easily in 1.5hr. Pretreat bolts that need removing with penatraitor.

by:

just took a short trip with my motorhome about 300 miles with new anti-sway bars installed on front and rear axles, totally impressed with ride and handling remove sway from my motorhome about 75 to 80 percent. I would recommend roadmaster's product and your company's knowledge and service, job well done, thank you

by:

Installing it by myself was not hard at all. Definitely heavy duty.
Assistance on torque specks via their tech dept was outstanding.

2015 Ford F-53

The trial run proved to be very satisfactory.
The
product delivered a stable ride and in a cross wind was very effective in keeping the unit from swaying.
Very comfortable drive.

by:

11/2022 we were forced to leave Florida running from Hurricane Nicole. With 25mph cross winds and +15mph gusts our 2016 Vista LX, 31 footer, was a handful to say the least. Without etrailers sway bars and bump stops we would have not been able to maintain our 50 to 55mph highway speed, better yet we probably would be in a ditch with other RV'S, 5th wheels and 18 wheelers. These items are amazing. I did have installed the Safe T Steer because etrailer was way behind on their steering stabilizer. Thanks you etrailer. BTW, if you are in the Indianapolis area I recommend Warner Springs on Bluff Rd. to do your install... Great people.

2013 Ford F-53

We were wanting to improve steering and ride on our 2013 Itasca Sunstar Motorhome. Crystal at Etrailer.com work with me to select the correct parts to upgrade the front sway bar, add a rear sway bar, add a steering stabilizer and Sumo Springs. McGee Commercial Tire & Service in Fort Myers, FL installed all the parts with a little over 9 hours of labor. Test driving the changes in a brisk cross wind showed us a much better ride, a more sold feel to the rig and better steering. All the parts arrive in a couple days and all were the correct parts for our unit. McGee did a very professional job of installation and I could not be happier.

We continue to be very pleased with the improvement in ride and steering of our motor home since the parts were added. It has made our travel more comfortable and safer due to the improvement in steering and stability.

by:

This went on our 2019 Windsport 29M. Outside of a couple minor install issues (Breaking frame bolts loose and needing to remove washer on the buttonhead bolt so the shock would fit in) the purchase went great - CS was very helpful the part shipped and arrived quickly.
I just finished the test drive and there is a noticeable difference in stiffness I should mention we already had front and rear Sumo springs and Roadmaster steering stabilizer which are a huge improvement over the stock chassis but still wanted to improve the interstate semi push and unexpected wind gusts . So far so good.

Ive been asked to provide a 1 year update... After the past year I can sincerely say this addition is well worth the price for anyone trying to control roll on class A with F53 chassis. Sumos alone help but adding the rear sway bar makes driving so much more enjoyable.

by:

We recently installed the Roadmaster Sway Bars along with Sumo springs from trailer on our 2017 Winnebago Vista 31T which utilizes the Ford F53 chassis. What a game changer in the overall ride and handling. Customer service was excellent and I highly recommend the company for their high quality product.

The roadmaster anti sway bar is a great product! Although I had someone else install it, it looked like an easy and clean install. It improved the drive ability and handling of our RV tremendously. I highly recommend this product to anyone driving a class A Rv.

Great! Although I’m not in our Motorcoach all year it is holding up well and continues to perform as advertised.

2018 Thor Windsport Motorhome

I am giving the Anti-Sway Bar an excellent rating based upon quality. I did find the instructions and videos helpful, but it was evident that this Anti-Sway Bar is a little unique. For example the tapered bolt and washer for the lower shock assembly required the washer to be removed in order for the shock to remount properly. This may be due to my shock assembly being angled. Additionally, the instructions did not indicate the shock should be reinstalled prior to the initial shackle test fit. But again my overall rating is excellent. Just some hints for the next installer.

We installed front and rear anti sway bars on our Winnebago Vista and they significantly reduced the swerving motion that we were experiencing. We’re very pleased.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancements for a Winnebago Brave 31C
The most common upgrades we see on motorhomes is rear anti-sway bar, sumo springs front/rear, and steering stabilizer in that order. These are the most worthwhile upgrades and the ones you will notice an improvement from most. I have attached the correct options below. Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1139-146 SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-170-40-2 (Front) and part # SSR-184-40-1 (Rear) Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer part # RM-RBK22-RSSA

  • Anti-Sway Bar vs. SumoSprings for 2016 Thor Hurricane Motorhome
The best option by far for your 2016 Thor Hurricane motorhome, built on a Ford F-53 chassis, are anti-sway bars. SumoSprings are a decent option that can help when the back-and-forth sway starts, but for the most control, your best suspension enhancement is - in order - a rear anti-sway bar, front anti-sway bar, and steering stabilizer. Rear anti-sway bars are so effective because they are a vast improvement over the OEM sway bars and their placement at the rear of the vehicle allows for...

Your 2018 Winnebago 26 Intent is built on a Ford F-53 chassis that is somewhat notorious for being hard to handle on the highway. The biggest improvement you'll make is with a new rear sway bar. Which for that you'd want the Roadmaster bar part # RM-1139-146 which is a confirmed fit. Next biggest improvement is with a front sway bar which the part # RM-1139-148 you referenced is the correct fit. With these two bars and your current stabilizer you'll have a much better ride quality.

According to what I was able to find, the 2019 Tiffin Open Road Allegro is manufactured on a Ford F-53 Chassis. For 15,700 lb, 18,000 GVWR models less than 34 feet long, use # RM-1139-146 which would install in conjunction with the existing sway bar. For 22,000, 24,000 or 26,000 lbs, use # RM-1139-149.
