Video Transcript for Mighty Cord 50 Amp Female to 30 Amp Male RV Power Cord Adapter Plug Review

What's up everybody I's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this power cord adapter from Mighty Cord. Now this is gonna be a 50 amp female. It's a 30 amp male. This is gonna be used to convert your power on your rig down to 30 amps. So let's say that you have a campsite, you're there, the parking spot's not available for a 50 amp, those are all taken, you have to park in a 30 amp one.

Well this is gonna down convert that power so you can at least turn the lights on. Let's check it out. Taking a closer look at it. Just wanna show you there isn't a twist lock on either end of this. It's just a standard plug.

And we'll just take it. Plug it right in. And now you're good to plug in the power. Now we're not on a campsite, so we're gonna use our generator here that has a 30 amp plug. So I'll fire that up first and then we'll plug it in.

Now that we're inside, I can flip on the lights. Looks like it's working just fine. Taking a closer look at it, you can see it's got grooves in it. And texture for when you're going to plug it in or unplug it. You also have these bumps.

You can put your fingers before and it just helps you unplug it easier. Even when gloves. My hand slides a little bit, or would slide a little bit, but it doesn't with the grooves. And these bumps to put my fingers around. One thing that we saw online that our customers aren't such a fan of is how much pressure it puts on the prongs. So if you go to plug this into your unit, and you can see that this is a heavy duty cord so it's gonna pull down on this, so it's gonna sit like this, that's putting all that pressure on these. And that's something you want to avoid. There is other options called the Dog Bone. Now it's gonna do the same thing and be an adapter. It just gives you a little bit more cord to work with so when you plug it in all that pressure isn't right here at the base of it. So you'll have it plugged in, it can hang down then, there's not as much pressure on the prongs here or here. It alleviates some of that. If you stick with just getting this adapter, that's fine too. It's good to have it just in case you need it. It's made out of rubberized plastic so you don't have to worry about it getting damaged. You can drop it on the ground. It's not gonna break. Some of them are made of more of a plastic material. And those, I feel like you might drop that and break it and a chunk comes off. This one's not gonna do that, it's heavy duty. Like I said, it's good just to have it. You don't know what the campsite's gonna have by the time you get there. And hopefully you watch this before you actually need it so you have it and you're ready. Well thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

etrailer shipped the plug quickly, and it arrived on time and in good condition. Excellent service.
The plug itself was easy to install, replacing the one on our cord that had gotten damaged (cracked) somehow. Works well.

I wanted a simple way to connect my 50A RV power cable to 30A when that was the only power service available. This adaptor plug is compact and easy to use. It fills the bill perfectly. I am very satisfied with the product and etrailer as a seller.

Comments
I havent used the adaptor all that much but it has worked well the few times that I have used it.

Works well. Adapts 30A outlet i have on garage to work with new camper thats 50Amp service. Its a good idea to coat the terminal lugs with silicone grease thats made for electrical connections. You can find it at an auto parts store as it is commonly used on rubber spark plug boots.

I have a 50 amp surge protector that requires a vertical position to prevent water intrusion. Using a pigtail, when only 30 amp is available, drops the unit too low and makes it difficult to maintain the correct alignment. This straight 30 amp to 50 amp adapter allows the unit to remain vertical. I do use a bungee to support the surge protector and avoid strain on the adapter.

by:

Quality product!

The mighty plug
works great when 30 amp hookups are all that's available. Keeps my 50 amp surge protector off the ground, which happens when using a regular pigtail adapter.

by:

The RV plugs, and adapters were awesome. etrailer is the best, really like doing business with them.

by:

Straight up 50 to 30 amp RV adapter without the "dog bone" cord. I like to have option for power connection and this is about as compact as you could get.

by:

Great doing business with the folks at eTrailer! All the products I've ordered are great quality, reasonably priced, and arrive on time! This adapter is built like a tank and should give us years of service. Easy to plug, easy to grip, and small enough to store easily.

by:

Just what I needed. Fast service too.

by:

by:

Great product. Great price

by:

This hockey puck solved the problem of connecting my 50 amp cord/plug into the 30 amp receptacle at the RV park. Good quality, good fit.

by:

Very good product to use and keeps the supply line from hanging lower on a power pedestal with the use of a traditional dog one conversion

by:

Excellent communication on providing status of our order! Highly recommend using etrailer when needing to order parts on line. I’ve ordered items at least 4 different times now and am extremely happy with this company!
