MB Sturgis Propane Fittings - 204024-MBS

  • MB Sturgis

Type 1 connector lets you attach a low-pressure propane regulator to your propane tank. Connector hand-tightens onto the tank while the male NPT threads attach to a regulator or supply hose. Safety valves stop flow in case of leaks or high heat.

Features:

  • Cylinder connector lets you hook up a hose to the LP cylinder on your RV
    • Low flow rate is ideal for using a single appliance, such as a gas grill
  • Type 1 ACME fitting attaches to your cylinder propane tank
  • 1/4" Male NPT connects to your regulator or hose
    • Must be used with a regulator rated for 200,000 Btu or less
  • Built-in safety features shut gas off in potentially hazardous situations
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow bypass mode stops gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • ANSI Z21.81 and CSA certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Fitting size: Type 1 cylinder connection x 1/4" male NPT
  • Temperature range: -40 F to 250 F
  • Maximum flow capacity: 200,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 200,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

Solved the issue of having to use a wrench with my old connector.

by:

took to long for delivery, but other then that not bad at all....

by:

Shipping speed was great. It was delivered right on time to go on a camping trip with our a-frame camper. Seems to be made of good quality brass, no issues with propane flow. This allowed me to replace a POL x 3/8 Flare for easy disconnect.

by:

I haven’t put it on my regulator yet but you can tell by holding it in your hand that it’s a quality part

by:

Works fine as stated however 1/4" MNPT threads were poorly cut and a bit over-sized.

by:

Looks well made. Says USA. Unlike the land of close enough, it has plenty of thread length on the NPT side.

by:

This was a repair part/replacement for my deep fryer. Easy to order, fast delivery, works great! fryer/burner hasn't worked this good in a long time!

by:

Still working great and so much easier than the old fitting to get on and off! Such a difference! Glad l bought it!

by:

It is just what I expected.

by:

Worked as advertised!!

  • What is BTU Rating of 204024-MBS MB Sturgis Propane Cylinder Connector

  • Can You Replace A Black Type-1 Propane Fitting With A Green One
The color of the fittings were to signify the BTU range for the fittings, but with some manufacturers stepping out of those ranges the color really isn't as important and knowing what the BTU rating of your regulator is. Since the Type-1 Fitting would be before the regulator the flow is going to be limited to the capacity of the regulator. If you had a regulator like part # 37207-30335, which has a 175,000 BTU rating and used a fitting like # 204024-MBS, which has a 200,000 BTU rating you'd...

  • Connecting A Type 1 Low Pressure Propane Cylinder Connector To A Hose
the general rule of thumb with NPT fittings is that the outer diameter is 1/4" larger than the measurement of the fitting. So a 1/4" MNPT fitting like on the MB Sturgis Black Type 1 Low Pressure Propane Cylinder Connector Item # 204024-MBS would have a 1/4" FNPT fitting connect to it but you would need a 1/2" wrench to tighten it. I recommend also using some Thread Sealant Tape for Gas Lines Item # 37207-30025 to ensure no leakages occur.

  • Connecting 20 lb Propane Tank to Stove
It depends on the connections you have to make, there isn't a universal tank to stove connection. For example, the Propane Pigtail - Type 1 x 1/4" MPT # 100473-20-MBS is a 20" long hose with a Type 1 Acme nut for an Acme or P.O.L. connection on your propane tank and a 1/4" Male NPT connection at the other end which normally connects to a regulator such as # 108072, though if that's what your stove uses it can connect to that as well. I have added a link to our selection of propane hoses...
