This Generation III Classic Personal snowplow is the most recent innovation from SnowBear. This plow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch (sold separately) for easy, convenient mounting. It has a remote-controlled electric winch that will let you raise and lower the plow without leaving the warmth and comfort of your cab. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain. Angled trip springs are also built in to help keep the blade from catching and tripping.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

HITCH MOUNTING

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. Unlike a plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets, which ties you down to just 1 vehicle, this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

To install the Personal snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver . Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

How to Plow

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, or 22 degrees to the left or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote or the in-cab toggle switch, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the Personal snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

WINCH

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using a toggle switch that mounts in your cab. You can also use the included wireless remote control. The winch uses a durable nylon strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Dealing with etrailer.com was definitely easy. They very much so appreciate any and all business. Shipping was pretty quick and they kept me informed on my order status all the way through as well with follow up to make sure everything was satisfactory. I have a 2019 TRD Pro Tacoma, I opted to just replace my skid plate with a lighter one given the slight addition weight of the hitch. On top of the fact I didn’t want to have to cut such a pricey factory part. Everything installed easily and while I’ve never had much reason to use fish wires I can tell you in this situation it’s a lifesaver. If I recall some people had issues fitting a ratchet to the top nuts. I used my stubby bolt through ratchet set and worked pretty flawlessly. Got to say over all I have zero complaints, some people mentioned the loss of ground clearance and/or approach angle but it’s really not that intrusive. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to make their Tacoma a little more versatile. My main objective was to be able to use my Surf Mate hitch rod/cooler set up without it getting in the way of the tailgate. Everything works great!

A year later and I’m still loving this hitch, I have since sold my 19 TRD Pro and bought a 22 TRD OR LB and continue to enjoy the functionality of this wonderful product.

Well engineered product. Less than 30 min to install on my 2022 TRD Off-road.
No trimming at all on TRD Off Road model.
It looks a little utilitarian up close, but not so much from a distance. My cycle jack worked perfectly for this task. BTW.. The fish wires are a stroke of genius.

I installed this to accommodate the adapter for my 20 year old SnowBear plow. I only plowed twice during the winter of 22-23, but the setup worked perfectly. I am also able to attach my 8000lb winch for temporary use. I didnt mention in my original review that the single, right side factory tow hook had to be removed. On the 2022 TRD Off Road the front approach angle will be affected by a few degrees since the hitch hangs below the skid plate.

Installed a Curt 31075 Front Hitch on a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Took about 2 hours since the skid plate needed to be removed and cut. I'm a little concerned about how deep under the bumper the receiver pin is. My purpose for installing is to use my SnowSport Plow. The interceptor for the plow is going to be close to the front license plate. The Pro right side hook had to be removed permanently but I did invert it and reinstall it just to fill the bolt holes it came from. 2 inches from the front of the Pro skid plate needed to be cut off. I split a commercial grade garden hose and covered the sharp cut edge. A receiver hitch plug was cut and inserted in the back (in photos). Thanks Curt, etrailer, Carol and Conner from etrailer.com. Hope the pictures help someone considering a front hitch on their TRD pro.

The Curt front hitch receiver works great. No issues with the Snowsport Plow contacting the front license plate. Ive adapted the front receiver with a hook and pulley. I use this hook and pulley to pull out stick lawn mowers and when magnet grapnel fishing from roadway bridges.

2020 Ram ProMaster 3500

I installed a rear hitch from e trailer and later ordered a front hitch so I could use my home made snow plow from either end of the truck. Some installation tipsI had to use to complete the installation, I could not get the nut on the bolt my hand would go into the hole so I mounted a screw onto a stick hung the bolt on the screw and turned the bolt with a screw driver. I also had to hold the bolt with a pair of needle noise vice grips. I was able to open the hood and gain access to the bolts to tighten them with a 3/8 drive ratchet with a piece of 3/4 inch EMT conduit to extend the handle with a deep socket. The 12 inch high box with the 3/4 inch sticks on top of the box held the hitch in place and made it a one person job. I showed the rest or the air dam I cut out. I am very happy with both Curt hitches thank you e trailer.

Installing the Curt front hitch on a 2017 Tacoma. To gain full access to use a torque wrench I took off the air-dam, grille, and the front bumper cover. Be careful with removing the bumper cover from the wheel wells. The snap tabs can break before they pull out. With full access I could snap the torque wrench to the specified number. I had to trim the air dam a few times and it fits around the hitch. I like the way the Curt hitch does not affect garage door clearance and does not affect approach angle.

One year later and the Curt hitch is good as new. I have a shock absorbing bumper I keep on the hitch for the rare times I can help push a disabled car to safety.

I don't write reviews very often but this Hitch was worthy of a great review! I received my order promptly and everything was packaged well and in good condition. I just finished installing the hitch on my Toyota Tacoma TRD-Off Road. It took me about one hour but that is only because I was taking my time and being careful. There were no problems. No trimming or modifications necessary for my TRD-Off Road. Looks great and is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you

No fuss, no hassle. Quick to ship, responsive, and package arrived when they said it would, all parts and instructions included. Hitch was surprisingly easy to install. Main tip is that if you want the plastic air dam back on your Tacoma, be sure to remove, do the cut-outs, then reinstall before installing the hitch. I didn't do that, but I'm not inclined to remove it and install the air damn anyways - extra plastic crap that I don't think serves much purpose.

Review: 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD OffRoad

Installation
Notes:
I have a brand new 2020 Tacoma TRD OffRoad... I purchased this front hitch, Curt #C31075 from eTrailer.com, it arrived on 3/11/2020. I just installed it on 3/12/2020... About a 45 minute job, only myself needed for the install. This front receiver fits perfect! I dont have the airdam/spoiler, AKA: chinstrap... Not an issue. I dont have a TRDPro, so didnt need to trim the TRDPro skidplate per Curts instructions. Skidplate stayed on whole time during installation... Bit tricky top bolts, but fishwires are perfect... Need long screwdriver or rod to reach in and hold head of top bolts steady when starting to tread them. Even with extension or crows feet on torque wrench, hard to know how much to get to [torque rating specified in instructions] for top 1/2inch bolts. Extensions alter the torque reading and make wrench inaccurate. Put a longer bar on end of wrench to get greater torque.

This DOES CONFIRM to fit a 2020 as the instructions from Curt do list the year as: 2016-Present.

Not quite rated as high as DrawTite, but so much better looking! Still has same 9,000 lb line pull.

Please see photos.
Thanx!!!

by: Chris 12/01/2023

Bolted right up. On a TRD-Offroad no trimming of air dam or skid plate needed. I plan to use it to back a boat into a tight space and in the future a removable winch than can be run in the rear or front when needed. Does remove a tiny bit of approach angle but I would be smashing my bumper at that point anyway.

by: Idaho Jack01/28/2021

Great hitch, easy install, fast delivery, and well priced. I installed this in 20-30 minutes by myself. Works well to install a rack on the front or to add a better tow point.

We purchased your Curt front hitch mount for our 2018 Tacoma. The process was easy, instructions and photos allowed us to be confident the assembly would fit, work as intended, and be reasonable to install ourselves. The shipment arrived four days earlier than estimated. Etrailer contacted us on receipt of the order, at shipment, during transit to offer support if needed, and to confirm delivery.

Installation was straightforward, fitment is perfect. The wire tools for locating the bolts & flanges worked perfectly, a very cool tool.

We will use the hitch with a smaller boat / trailer that cannot be seen from the truck cab when reversing.

Over the years we have purchased several times from etrailer, always a good experience.

2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought a Snow bear personal plow and a separate Curt receiver hitch for the front of my 2012 F250.. after speaking with Erica W. several times due to blunders on my part, all was perfect. Quick delivery, price was right, items are super rugged. The stock photos don't do justice. My plow came in at 350 pounds without the receiver hitch. It's not a cheap toy plow. Get one, they'll fit nearly anything! Thanks Erica!!

It is perfect. Easy and fairly quick to self install without need for specialized tools, or parts outside of what comes in the box. Handles my snow plow well. Fits my Tacoma like it was made for it (yes, I know, it was). Had one of these before on my old F150, with similar experience. Would buy again without question.

Overall, it’s very easy to install. By myself, it took roughly about 45 minutes. Through the aid of a lift jack, I was able to center the mount on the jack and lift it and hold it in place after threading the bolts through the crossbeam. As several other customers have stated it’s best to use either needle, nose, pliers, or some type of forceps to hold the ball in place at the upper bracket, and then try to thread the nut on. I did have to loosen for facia screws in order to give myself some room to get the socket up to the upper bolt.

Also, as other folks have mentioned the included instructions with the pictures are horrible. After purchasing, I received an email for a review with a link to some Q&A and instructions. I use the link and open it up on my iPad and had great color photos. The color photos make all the difference when doing the install.

Item was ordered with a five day delivery (roughly) was expected. The item was delivered three days early to my surprise.

Have owned on different trucks. Easy installation and just what I have needed. Love em

by: Frank03/22/2018
2016 ToyotaTacoma

The product looks good, but did not install easily. Instructions called for torquing the main bolts to a certain pound. There is no possibly way to get a torque wrench capable of applying that many pounds into the available space to perform this action. I was able to tighten with shorter wrenches, but that was difficult as well. Hopefully I was able to tighten them sufficiently. In addition, the cutouts for the air dam, as described in the instructions were terribly wrong. I had to remove close to 50% of the air dam to be able to put it back on and could only use 5 of the 11 screws to hold it. If you want an air dam, don’t buy this products. My vehicle is a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD sport.

I normally am a very happy trailer customer but these were huge misses in all of the available media on their site.

Please note that this review is not about the actual quality of the hitch...it is about the install instructions and the information on the website that I am complaining about.

Frank,Thank you for your review. I contacted Curt and they explained the installation instructions show a diagram of the air dam from Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road model. The Toyota Tacoma TRD sport, does either require removal of the air dam or more trimming then the other models. To get to the hard to reach bolts, you can use an extension or crows foot.

Installed on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. Installation was easy, the product feels very secure after installation and it went on fairly quick with minimal tools.
Looks great, I will be using it for hauling kayaks and canoe's and light lumber hauls. The only thing is you just have to take care when your thread steel bolts into aluminum anchors or you will cross thread. Other than that a great product.

Do you have a question about this Snow Plow?

  • Solution for SnowBear Snow Plow that Wobbles When Raised Up While Traveling
  • I spoke with SnowBear about the issue you described and they said it sounds like you aren't using the safety chain that came with the plow which was designed for removing the play you are describing. There's more info on it on pages 13 and 14 in the manual of the plow. Secondly, vehicles with plows connected should NOT travel on roadways without the safety chain installed, as this may result in serious damage to the roadway, plow and vehicle and may cause serious injury to the operator.

  • Snowbear Plow Receiver Hitch vs Custom Mount
  • The biggest difference I have seen between the two style is in the amount of play they have side to side. While it isn't a ton there is more play in the single connection point than what you will get out of the custom frame bracket types. We carry both types here but given the choice I would go with the custom bracket version. If you plan on moving it from one vehicle to another from time to time then the hitch mount is the way to go for ease of use. There is a great option with custom

The air dam needs to be trimmed but not the skid plate. The only model that would require further modifications that we've seen so far is the TRD Sport models.
