Snowplow Installation

Push Frame

Installation is quick and simple - just slide included shank assembly into your 2" receiver and secure with pin.





Snap Pins

Then lift the blade, one end at a time, onto the frame's holders and fasten with snap pins.

The SnowSport HD blade is mounted on an angled, 3-position shank assembly, allowing you to plow to the left, to the right or straight ahead.



How to Plow

Plow

To plow, lower the blade and begin driving; no wiring or hydraulics are needed. The unique push frame on the shank assembly allows the blade to move along the grade of the terrain for easier, more efficient plowing. The heavy-duty rubber cutting edge is effective yet turf friendly, collecting snow and squeegeeing slush without digging into the ground.


Reverse

When you reverse direction, the blade lies back, skimming over the surface of the ground so that you can easily take another pass.


Backing Up

Once you're finished plowing, just lift the blade and refasten into the travel position. The blade is secure enough to travel at highway speeds, and the low-profile design keeps it from blocking your vehicle's headlights. Removal for storage is quick and easy. The plow can be used on the rear of your vehicle, making it a cinch to back out of your snow-packed driveway.

Video Transcript for Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 GMC Yukon - Curt

Today on our 2008 GMC Yukon, we're going to take a look at and then showing you how to install the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver. This is a custom fit, offering a 2-inch by 2-inch opening. It's part number is C31012. This is going to be a great way to get a hitch on the front of the vehicle to help us with certain tasks that we need to accomplish without adding or detracting too much from the look of our vehicle. As you can see, our main crosstube and everything is going to be hidden back behind this lower fascia panel. We had to trim that out a little bit, but that was a really minor thing to do. Looks like below that, our hitch is going to come down about 2 and 3/8 of an inch, so just keep that in mind. If clearance is an issue with you getting in and out of the driveway or something, might not be something that you want. We've got that nice clean, flush look on the end here.

I like that with the Curt hitches. 5/8 diameter pinhole here on the side. This is going to allow us to use whatever class III type accessory we'd want. As you can see, there's plenty of room on each side. Whatever you plan on putting in here, whether maybe you're going to put a bike rack up front or a cargo carrier, a lot of times, winches will go in here, snow plows, or even just recovery hooks and things like that to help pull somebody out, whatever the case may be, you'll want to use a class III accessory to hold that in place. We've got a vertical load limit or what they call the tongue weight rating of 500 pounds.

That's the maximum downward force we can put right here. We're going to have a gross trailer weight rating of 5,000 pounds, so if you're going to be moving things around the yard or something like, 5,000 pounds is going to be the limit on that. That's the total weight of our trailer and anything that we've got loaded up. We're going to have a straight line pull of 9,000 pounds, so if you mount a winch here, hook it to a tree and pull, 9,000 pounds is going to be that limit. Just want to keep those things in mind. We've got our 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube opening here, which should work out really well for a lot of accessories. The first thing we're going to do for installation is determine whether we need to cut our fascia here.

We'll get an extra set of hands and we want to raise our hitch up into position. Looks like we've got about an inch there before we make full contact, so we are going to need to trim. Let's mark both sides of the hitch here. We'll take that up about an inch or so and we can refit just to make sure it's going to go in there properly. We'll be taking this area out right here. Now, let's recheck our fit there and see how it looks.

Yeah, looks good. See we've got plenty of clearance room for it there. Now, we want to line up our holes here and we want to mark each one of them both on the driver side and passenger side. Now, we're going to take a center punch and we want to mark the middle of each of our holes here. Now, we're going to start with a smaller drill bit and work our way up to 17/32. That way it'll just make it a little bit easier on us. Now, with our holes drilled out to 17/32, we can take our fish wire. We want to go in the hole and right up here towards our access hole. Should be able to reach in there and feel that fish wire, just lead it down and out of that hole. We're going to place on 1 of our spacer blocks and also 1 of our 1/2-inch carriage bolts. I like to put my spacer block in first, then my bolt, just bring it right back like that. We'll do that for all 4 of the holes that we've just drilled out. Now for our forward hole there, what we'll do is they call reverse fish wire. Here, what we're going to do is put the block on the bolt. Then, we thread our fish wire on, push the bolt up and in, then our block, and we just draw it right down through just like that. We have all 6 of our bolts in location. We can raise our hitch up into position. We want to guide it onto our bolts. We'll be careful not to push them back up in the frame. Then, we're going to put on 1 of our flange nuts, hit 3 or 4 turns on it. That'll support our hitch while we take care of the other side. All right. Now that we've got that in place, we're going to snug these down. Then, we can torque them to the manufacturer's specifications, which you'll find in your instructions. Now, with everything torqued down properly, that's going to complete the installation of the Curt Front Mount Hitch on our 2008 GMC Yukon, C31012.

Product is great! Exceeds my expectations for ease of installation and performance. I removed the 3” spoiler completely vs cutting for hitch. The key is to “dry fit” in place and use a metal punch to mark all your drill holes. Wire bolt feeder worked great for installing bolts. I used the hitch to mount my eight pole rod & cooler holder for surf fishing.

Super fast shipping,but could use better packing.Hitch actually made a large hole in box,UPS driver had me check to see if anything was missing.Easy install,but try finding a 17/32" bit. After seeing how big the front opening is I just used a 1/2" bit. I think it took longer to remove, trim and reinstall the front spoiler than the rest of the job. Looks great installed

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The hitch was as I expected. Went on with not much trouble The directions say to be careful when positioning the hitch after installing the bolts in the frame not to lose then up in the frame I just used my hot glue gun to hold them in place. Us eighty one year olds have to work smarter

So far so good! Looks and feels like a high quality product, the welding looks great, everything was fabricated square and accurately. The first thing I did was remove the lower black fascia from my truck so it is easier to properly locate the hitch. Once properly located on frame of truck and mounting are holes are marked all you have to do is simply drill four 17/32" holes and fish bolts thru frame. The fish wire that is provided to pull the bolts through the frame was ingenious, someone was really thinking when they designed this. This was truly a breeze to install.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I bought this for my 2016 Chevy 1500. We used a jack to hold the hitch in place to mark the drill spots. It had two holes already there so we drilled out 4 and up it went. Very easy! Within a couple of hours we were taking out e-bikes to the park.

to share my experience installing C31012
Over the years I've purchased 6 or 7 hitches from etrailer. I had completely different experience this time. I don't recall seeing website comments that drilling was required or the expected install time..
Usually the website is accurate or maybe I just missed theses items.
So the install video for 2014 Sierra doesn't apply for 2017 and maybe later.
The CURT instructions also have the access hole wrong. Its the front hole.
There are no others.
Maybe mentioning a trick to put tape on threads before removing feeder. So easy to lose the bolt with a slip when raising the hitch into place.
What was most difficult was measuring for precisely drilled hole locations with off road skirt blocking frame to frame access.
My solution was to clamp hitch C31012 in position with 24" woodworker clamps.
Align the front holes and get the exact hole positions for the drilling.
The factory solution should be to tell CURT that making all 3 holes on both sides OVAL.
That provides a little margin for error.

AND on my truck, NO cutting of bumper valance was needed

2015 Chevrolet Blazer

Snowsport PlowEtrailer.com does it right from start to finish. On top of having a great web site, the staff are the best.
Keeping in mind, I ordered this in December, about 5 days before our first big snow, here in Ohio. Within an hour of ordering my SnowSport HD plow, I was upgraded to special priority shipping, that was a nice surprise! The plow arrived in about two days, in three boxes, as I ordered the front hitch at the same time. I feel bad for my UPS carrier, these boxes were not for the faint of heart. The assembly went smoothly, the manufacturer uses high end parts and everything is well marked and the instructions are easy to follow. I estimate it took me two hours to get everything put together, with a coffee break in between. I am impressed with the construction, wow. Heavy duty is right!
We had four inches of snow yesterday. I opened the garage door and went to work, two pushes to clear the parking spots, and one easy push down the two hundred foot gravel driveway. Like butter.
I was done. It took less then 15 minutes. I put this blade on my 2003 rear wheel drive, not 4x4, Chevy Blazer. I backed into the garage and it looked like I had just put the blade on, this blade could last a long time. I love it. I cant wait until we get a foot or more of snow, my wife wants to plow next time. Plus I have cable chains comming from Etrailer, they should be here any day. Just in case my two wheel drive has tracktion problems in the deeper snow. Thanks a bunch, Etrailer!

2011 Honda Ridgeline

We installed this on our 2011 Honda Ridgeline and a week later it snowed... And snowed.... And snowed.. 5 feet in 24 hours ( we live on the lake near Buffalo) and it's still snowing... This wasn't good, it was AWESOME! It was an easy install and assembly and worked absolutely perfect! We have a tough driveway and this kept it clear with no issues, no problems and we used it all day and night! When you spend that much on something you've never even seen before you can have reservations... It's worth every penny. It's solid ( more than we thought it would be) and does the job with ease. No .. It's good, but...... It's exactly as advertised and etrailer not only had the best price, the communication with my order was exceptional. Now... If only the town could send a plow down my street.....

2011 Nissan Xterra

I had a few hiccups while assembling (over tightening things early, I think) but once I got it together it’s been awesome. Clears easily and efficiently. Have used to clear as much as 14” of snow (that required pushing off to the side more often) but once you get used to the technique this thing is a lifesaver. I can clear a 300’ long driveway in 15 minutes or so for an average 4-5” snowfall.

2010 Chevrolet Tahoe

e-trailer service and shipping were fantastic! As far as the Curt front receiver for 2007 Tahoe, the product is very well made and the install took about 1 hour. The ground clearance is not good. Ground clearance on my 2007 Tahoe is 7 inches and the angle of approach is half what it used to be. Angle of approach with my receiver winch is unacceptable. I also purchased the Roadmaster 10,000 pound 6 inch high/low hitch adapter and that helps to get the winch up, but the receiver is still plowing through mud. If you have a 2007+ Tahoe, get the Curt front mount skid shield to avoid catching the receiver hitch on rocks or driveways. I'd rather have a receiver through the license plate area or higher for better ground clearance and no loss on angle of approach - so I'm looking to custom build one since I can't find a manufacturer that makes one.

Ford Edge

It does what it's supposed to do, puts the snow from my driveways into piles not on my driveways. Got it over some of the other variations because it doesn't have electronics or wiring to break when its -30.

-Cutting edge that came with mine has been decently strong for running on gravel driveways.
-Light enough I can mount/unmount whenever I need to.
-Doesn't tear up lawns, which is where I have to push most of the snow I move.

--Needs a through eyebolt for quick connect back dragging rather than the ratchet strap idea they sell.
--Side panels are the weak link of the system
they cut in hard and make the plow jumpy while turning
the nubs on the back are also not deep enough to allow the plow to free stand when storing
and as hard as they are they get jammed right up with any sort of twig/leaf debris you might be plowing up
---I'll be replacing these with some sort of steel or aluminum panel with a tubing edge once they start to fail.
-- The sliding parts aren't powder coated so they'll need to be repainted every year or two or its going to rust right out.

Overall though it does what I wanted it to do, and paid for itself by saving me a lot of hours not having to shovel or snowblow. And even if my vehicle were ever to go down I could toss it on the back of another vehicle to get the snow moved.

2014 Honda Pilot

It arrived in about 3 days, in 3 packages. I researched online extensively before choosing the SnowSport HD. Price at etrailer was about 10% cheaper than other sites. I already had the front hitch on my 2014 Honda Pilot, so all I had to do was assemble the plow and go play.

I had watched multiple videos of using and assembling the product, before ordering. All the time shoveling my driveway with a shovel as I had to get in and out and keep the driveway, ice free for visitors.

Everything was in the boxes, not a single bolt or washer missing. Assembly was as simple as I expected. I completed assembly without assistance in about 90 minutes, at a normal pace. Neither my cordless (nor corded) drill would screw the 3/8 self tapping screws to connect the two blade pieces, but it was not difficult to do them with a ratchet.

I set the height correctly for the front hitch, and I have a 6 inch hitch drop/riser that that should give me good plowing with the back hitch (have not tested yet, but expect good results)

The design is very well thought out, it is a quality product that will probably last the rest of my life (home use). I recommend it to others, and I would buy it again.

I ordered the plow as we finished getting about 10 inches of snow over a couple of days. The temperature stayed below freezing and there was still about 6 inches of snow to play in, when I had the plow mounted. Based on some reviews I had concerns that it might not do well, pushing piles of snow, or the snow that had been sitting for days. I was pleasantly surprised to be pushing even snow the city snow plow had mounded in front of the neighbors driveway. I plowed the neighbors from the street and about 80 feet in, without difficulty, three passes in a couple minutes and the job was done.

I live in a 1950s ranch home, with a single car garage (in basement) near Pittsburgh PA, my Honda Pilot fits in the garage with just inches to spare going through the door. The 7 foot blade is just a little narrower than the side view mirrors. So I can drive in and out. I have the blade and mount in the garage, and they are light enough that I can mount the blade front or back while in the warm garage and drive out to plow snow. Pull back in the garage, remove the blade and drive into to town to go to the office for work.

I am so excited to have this plow that, it probably will not snow more then a trace for a couple of years... Fate denying me the opportunity to play with it for a long time.

2011 Honda Ridgeline

The shipments arrived within days of ordering. The snow sport HD had easy to follow instructions . The plow was put together without any problems.
I had my local mechanic install the front receiver for me on my 2011 Ridgeline.
A day after everything was set to go, we got about six inches of wet snow.
I used the plow and I was very happy with it’s performance. I was able to clear my driveway and my neighbors in very little time. Overall I think it is a simple but effective plow for homeowners.

Chevrolet Suburban

I ordered my Front Receiver for my Suburban back in January and received it about 3-4 days later. I was extremley pleased with the order process. I finally got around to puting it on in March????
Installation was a breeze, you do have to drill 4 holes but it was no big deal. Then I thought the hard part was going to be fishing the bolt/washers into the drilled holes but it was a piece of cake and actually was kinda fun. The "fishing" lines provided in the kit were great and they are now in my tool box in case I ever need to go "fishing" again. The Hitch works great and makes moving my trailers around a snap.
I chose not to trim the front spoiler because it looks fine to me.
I also now have a really neat step to get under the hood and I am going to add a winch stand and other toys to it.

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the greatest invention I think that has came out in a long long time don't let How deep the snow gets worried you because this product will plow snow all day long with no problems I've plow through snow in my lawn that has been 3 foot deep measured with a solid yardstick no problem to push it and that's on a Jeep Grand Cherokee that's the nice thing about this plow when you go pushing snow the deeper it gets it just moves up and down and keeps pushing the snow in front of you just make sure you push the snow back far enough the first time as with any plow wherever you leave your pile and it freezes in you won't move it again super great product this is my second one my first one I bought 10 years ago and it worked for 10 years with no problems whatsoever finally sold the vehicle so I let the plow go with it big mistake but that's okay cuz I just bought a brand new one great product great design anybody thinks this product won't work in Canada Alaska Erie PA this plow will work wherever there is snow.

Good Product/Install, Loss of Ground ClearanceInstall directions were detailed and straight foward. Having the right drills, bits, and sockets make the project easy. I spent 1.5 hours verse the recommended 45 minutes as a non-professional installer. Very pleased with the product, but instead of having to trim any fascia, the lowest part of the receiver sits below the fascia, making this the lowest point of the vehicle. I was hoping the receiver would maintain the vehicles stock ground clearance, but it is just too low. I installed this to carry a portable mounted winch and it may be too low to do this job effectively.

Curt products are always good. Yet to install this hitch, but sure it will work fine as my previous Curt front mount hitch which unfortunately would not fit my new truck.

Simple efficient design.Had mine several years. A real simple to use/maintain plow.
Be sure to get a front-mounted receiver for your vehicle if you can - much easier to maneuver the plow with it in the front.
No hydraulics or electrical to install/maintain. Quickly clears the driveway. Hang it up out of the way in the Spring.

The snow plow is as expected, built solidly and easy to assemble. The plow itself comes in two pieces which was unexpected but seems sturdy when bolted together. It also skips across my snow/ice packed gravel driveway, but I expect it will work well moving fresh snow. For the money it is a great entry level plow.

2001 Chevrolet Blazer

Best buy ever made.I am going on my 5 year with this plow. It was on my 92 Jeep then on my 94 Blazer and now my 2001 Blazer. I plow a 1/4 mile home drive way and 1000 SF lot at work in Northern MI. The plow has never failed. Powder and wet snow no problem. People think it's a toy until they see it work. You supply the vehicle and common sense and the plow will do the rest.
